Photo Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Zhangjiajie Arrival

Arrival at Zhangjiajie, you will be picked up from the train station or the airport, then head to Wulingyuan Scenic Area, and you will stay overnight here.

Day 2: Yuanjiajie - Yangjiajie

After breakfast at the hotel, take a sightseeing bus to experience the Bailong Elevator, recognized as the world's fastest and tallest outdoor elevator.

Hiking through the towering stone columns at Yuanjiajie Scenic Area. Prepare to marvel at the South Sky Pillar, approximately 150 meters high, which inspired the "Avatar Hallelujah Mountain". Capture the stunning scenery at Enchanting Platform, where numerous stone peaks, reminiscent of bamboo shoots, rise from the ground.

Next, take a sightseeing bus to Yangjiajie, a newer yet equally beautiful part of the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. Photograph key spots such as Tianbo Mansion, Oolong Village, Natural Great Wall, Corridor the Cliffs, and capture the sunset at One Step Under the Heaven.

Finally, return to Wulingyuan for overnight accommodation.

Day 3: Tianzi Mountain - Laowuchang

In the morning, board the sightseeing bus to explore Tianzi Mountain. Visit He Long Park, the ideal vantage point to marvel at the awe-inspiring view of unique stone peaks rising one after another.

Tianzi Mountain offers photographers the highest point to capture a panoramic view of the Wulingyuan Scenic Area.

In the afternoon, stroll to Laowuchang, a more untouched part of the park. Photograph the intriguing sight of 'Fields in the Sky', terraced rice paddies atop the peaks, and the grand vista of the 'Supernatural Army Gathering'.

As the day ends, journey to the downtown area for an overnight stay.

Day 4: Tianmen Mountain & Cave - Departure

Embark on a thrilling journey to Tianmen Mountain, a stunning national forest park in Zhangjiajie City.

Ride the world's longest cable car to the top, then brave two exhilarating cliff path walks. Capture the breathtaking views from the summit.

Next, descend to Tianmen Cave via escalator, admiring the massive mountain hole. Don't miss the photo opportunities!

Then, navigate the Avenue toward Heaven with its 99 sharp turns, offering a unique roller coaster-like experience. It's a great spot for capturing stunning photos.

As the day ends, we'll arrange your transfer to the airport or train station for your next adventure.

Trip Notes

01. The best time for photography

The ideal period to visit Zhangjiajie is from April to November when the weather is generally clear.

If you're interested in capturing the beauty of snow-covered mountains, January and February are great months as it occasionally snows during this time.

However, it's important to note that during the summer holiday season (July to August) and popular public holidays like the May holiday and National Day holiday, the area tends to be extremely crowded. As a result, you may experience long waiting times of over two hours to take the cable car up and down the mountains.

02. How to get to Zhangjiajie?

Zhangjiajie can be easily accessed from major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, as well as popular tourist destinations like Guilin and Huangshan. You have the option to travel by air or take a high-speed train.

Alternatively, you can also reach Chasha, the capital city of Hunan Province, which offers more train options to reach Zhangjiajie.

03. Camera and lens suggestions

  • My recommendation to customers is to carry two cameras while photographing, as it saves time in changing lenses, especially during sunrise and sunset when the scenery changes rapidly. This ensures that you don't miss any beautiful moments.

  • For landscape photography, it's best to bring a wide-angle and zoom lens, such as 24-70mm and 70-200mm.

  • Additionally, a tripod is essential in low-light conditions, such as at dawn and dusk.

04. Drone photography

In the Wulingyuan scenic area, including the Avatar Mountains, drone photography is permitted and the aerial view is truly breathtaking.

However, it is important to note that flying drones is strictly prohibited in Tianmen Mountain and Cave. This restriction is in place due to the close proximity of Zhangjiajie airport.
