The best time to visit Zhangjiajie

The ideal time to visit Zhangjiajie is during the months of April to May and September to November. During these periods, the number of tourists is relatively lower compared to other times of the year. Although there will still be many tourists, the waiting time for the cable car is significantly reduced, from a potential 2-hour wait to just half an hour.

On the other hand, the summer holiday months of July and August, as well as other public holidays like the National Day Holiday from October 1st to 7th, are the busiest times in Zhangjiajie. These periods attract a large influx of visitors, resulting in more crowds and longer waiting times.

For those interested in foliage photography, the autumn season from October to November provides a brief opportunity to capture the stunning colors in the Wulingyuan Scenic Area.

If you visit during winter, from late December to February, you can experience the snowy scenery in Zhangjiajie. This period offers a unique chance to enjoy the winter landscape of the area.

How many days do I need?

Zhangjiajie offers convenient scheduling options for photography enthusiasts.

Spend 2-3 days to explore the captivating Wulingyuan Scenery Area, and reserve one day for Tianmen Mountain and Cave.

Note: It is important to note that the hotels situated on the mountain top have been closed for several years. Consequently, capturing sunrise and sunset photography may not be feasible due to the restricted operating hours of the cable car (7am to 6pm).

For those seeking an extended trip, Zhangjiajie is conveniently located approximately 3 hours away from Fenghuang Ancient City. Fenghuang provides a wonderful opportunity to unwind and immerse oneself in the cultural richness of the western region of Hunan Province.

It's a great mixture of people and landscape... Mercier really know about what you need for taking great shots.
